Downham Hall prides itself on being the perfect place to wow your guests with exquisite food carefully selected by yourself and guided by our Operations Manager and Head Chef. We provide exclusive use rooms which offer privacy and intimacy for the best possible dining experience.
Enjoy a 3 course meal complete with matching wines, reception drinks, cocktails and of course live music should you so wish, Downham Hall is a unique and intimate place to provide memories which last forever.
Dining Room Options
The Orangery
Suitable for groups of 12-26, the Orangery offers stunning views ove the back lawn and surrounding hills. It is light and airy, with greenery and scenery all around and even echoes in the interior wallpaper. Choose a long rectangle, horse shoe or two separate tables, we will work around your wishes.
The de Beauvoir Suite
Seating between 12 and 45, the de Beauvoir suite situated at the front of the Hall is impressive and yet also comfortable. Slightly larger, it is the perfect spot for reception drinks followed by a sit down meal and conveniently located close to the bar. This room is formal without being fussy and requires little decor to keep your guests impressed.

How can I make a reservation?
We encourage booking online wherever possible.
Reservations of up to 6 can be made via the website.
For private dining, Sunday Lunch, Dining experiences, larger groups and all afternoon tea bookings, we require a deposit of £10pp at the time of booking.
Do you offer outdoor dining?
We are happy to seat you outside wherever possible. Please note tables are not reserved outside sue to inclement weather.
Are children allowed?
Of course! We also offer colouring in, a children’s menu and plenty of space outside to roam.
Do you cater for gluten free/ dietary requirements?
We are hally to adapt our dishes wherever possible. Please note some dishes cannot be varied but we will always offer an alternative
What if I’m late?
On key busy days we may not be able to hold your table beyond the booking time .
Do you offer a dinner, bed and breakfast package?
We offer a great “stay and dine” deal with breakfast for 2 and £60 to be spent on food in the restaurant.
Do you have parking?
We have plenty of on site parking. You are welcome to leave your car overnight at your own risk.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
We do indeed! These are the perfect gift, valid for one year, redeemable across the business including stays and available from £25 upwards.

Our a la carte menu is a seasonal affair, adapting both the ingredients and style to the season. We work hard to find the best suppliers and try and cater for a range of tastes but never negotiate on quality. Come and eat from a menu suited to a boutique hotel restaurant.

Round off your week with a Sunday lunch served in our laid-back eatery. Think locally sourced vegetables, tender meat, and the tastiest Yorkshire puds and roasties going. And with plenty of starters and puddings to tempt you, it's fair to say Sundays at Downham Hall are something special.
Casual breakfasts, laid-back lunches, indulgent afternoon teas, and the most delicious dinners going - our restaurant in the heart of Essex offers the ultimate dining experience. So, if it’s a birthday brunch or anniversary dinner, you can expect foodie favourites made using some of the finest local produce that our chefs can get their hands on.
We booked an anniversary meal on Saturday evening and we were not disappointed! I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of dining out we have had. Our waitress was attentive and welcoming. The food was beautifully presented and delicious and the wine choice superb. The decor of the room was warm, clean and fresh. I have already recommended Downham Hall to friends and we WILL be returning. Thank you so much for a lovely evening
